Residential Resale

The City of Novato Residential Resale program was initiated in 1988 as a means to ensure safe housing in the Novato community. Since the start of the resale program, many progressive changes have occurred. Due to these changes, the City of Novato resale program is the most advanced, comprehensive and goal-focused. Code Enforcement Resale Inspectors research properties prior to inspections, noting permits issued, permit status and pending code violations.

All residential properties are required to set appointments for inspection prior to sale.

Multi-family Housing Inspection

This program has been in effect since 1973, administered by the County of Marin Environmental Health Department under an agreement between the County and the City of Novato. The purpose is to ensure compliance with the Uniform Housing Code and to provide safe housing for the community.
