Can I get crime statistics for my neighborhood, or the neighborhood I am moving to?
Do you have a Neighborhood Watch Program and how do I start one?

Q: Can I get crime statistics for my neighborhood, or the neighborhood I am moving to?
A:
Yes. The Crime Prevention Bureau can give you basic crime statistics for your area. They will not give you specific names or addresses, but they can tell you what types of crimes have occurred and how frequently.
Q: Do you have a Neighborhood Watch Program and how do I start one?
A:
Yes. Neighborhood Watch is a program that enlists the active participation of citizens in cooperation with the Police Department to reduce crime in their community. The Novato Police Department does offer this program and it is set up very easily with the assistance of the Crime Prevention Bureau. All you need to do is find a convenient time and place, send out flyers (provided by the Police Dept.) to all your neighbors and hold the first meeting with the assistance of the Crime Prevention Bureau representative. After that the group pretty much takes care of itself while the Crime Prevention Bureau monitors the area and your group.
